In Episode 211 of IKEA Home Tour, the Squad travels to Detroit to help two grandparents and empty nesters transform their spare bedroom into a craft room, office and space for their grandchildren!
Bob and Judy Curry are celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary and settling into their retirement. Judy now has more time to devote to her painting, so she set up a studio in the couple’s spare bedroom. The catch? Judy’s craft room also serves as a guest room and an office. The existing furniture doesn’t offer enough storage or organization for all of Judy’s art supplies. The IKEA Home Tour Squad will design a multifunctional craft room for Judy with space for Bob to work and the grandchildren to sleep when they visit.
The IKEA Home Tour Squad updated Bob and Judy’s space to include two bookcases and an attached secretary work station from the HEMNES series to store Judy’s art supplies and give Bob a place to use his laptop. A HOLMSUND sofa bed, with plenty of storage under the seat for extra pillows and linens, created a place for the grandchildren to sleep when they stay over. The STENSTORP kitchen cart and attached GRUNDTAL rail system gave Judy a taller work surface for painting, as well as additional storage for her art supplies!
