In Episode 114 of IKEA Home Tour, the Squad travels to Saffron, FL to help a family figure out what to do with their open concept living room and dining room.
Vernon and Muthoni Harris live in single-level home with a front room that's used as a mixture of dining room for family and guests, play area for their toddler son Zuri, and a little bit of office for mom and dad. The family loves entertaining, but they struggle with their small dining table and lack of comfortable seating.
When they do entertain friends, meals have to be quickly cleaned up to allow for socializing, and children's activities need to be moved to a different room. What's more, Zuri's toys are scattered on the play mat out in the open due to a lack of storage options. Thanks to the IKEA Home Tour Squad, the Harris' open concept living room has been transformed into a warm gathering space that's inviting and also great for kids. To give Zuri a place to sit and watch everything outside through the window, the Squad chose two STUVA benches that also double as storage for toys.
To give the family a much needed larger dining room table, the Squad selected the STORNÄS extendable table, which is made of solid pine and seats up to twelve people when fully extended. For additional storage, the Squad installed the BESTÅ system with a sideboard and fully extending drawers. Two tall cabinets were installed on either side, featuring glass doors up top for displaying items and storage below for office supplies.
